Do I need to know SQL to use SCT?
No SQL knowledge is required. SCT has a point-and-click interface — you select your databases, click Compare, and the tool does the rest. Results are displayed in a clear, visual format.
Does SCT work with Azure SQL databases?
Yes. SCT fully supports Azure SQL databases. You can compare on-premise SQL Server to Azure SQL, Azure SQL to Azure SQL, or any combination. The process is identical to comparing local databases.
Which versions of SQL Server are supported?
SCT supports all versions of SQL Server from 2005 through 2025, plus Azure SQL Database. You can compare databases from different SQL Server versions against each other.
Can I compare databases on different servers?
Yes. SCT can compare databases residing on completely different servers — including servers in different networks, as long as you have the appropriate network access and credentials.
Do I need SQL Server Management Studio installed?
No. SCT is completely independent of SQL Server Management Studio. It connects directly to SQL Server using standard Windows components that are already present on any modern Windows installation.
Can I automate comparisons and run them on a schedule?
Yes. SCT supports command-line parameters, which allows you to automate comparisons using Windows Task Scheduler or any CI/CD pipeline. You can also save comparison sessions and replay them without re-entering parameters.
Can I exclude specific columns from data comparison?
Yes. You can customize comparisons in many ways, including excluding specific columns from data comparisons. This is useful for columns like timestamps or audit fields that are expected to differ between environments.
Does SCT generate SQL scripts to synchronize databases?
Yes. After comparing schemas, SCT can automatically generate a ready-to-run SQL update script that brings one database in sync with the other. You review the script before running it, so you stay in control.
What is the difference between the Free Edition and the full version?
The Free Edition is completely free and has no time limit. It allows comparison of stored procedures only. The full version adds comparison of tables (schema and data), functions, views, triggers, relationships, constraints, and permissions. Download the Free Edition →
How does the 30-day free trial work?
Simply download and install SCT — no credit card or registration required. You get full access to all features for 30 days. If you decide to purchase, your license key unlocks the same installation you've been using.
What happens after the 30-day trial expires?
After 30 days, SCT will prompt you to purchase a license. You can either purchase a full license or switch to the Free Edition (which covers stored procedures indefinitely). Your comparison settings and saved sessions are preserved.
Is the money-back guarantee really unconditional?
Yes, completely. We offer a 60-day, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee on all licenses. If you're not satisfied for any reason within 60 days of purchase, contact us and we'll refund you in full.
Do licenses expire?
No. All SCT licenses are lifetime licenses — they never expire. Your license includes 1 year of free upgrades and technical support. After the first year, you can optionally renew support and upgrades at 50% of your original license price, but renewal is never required to continue using the software.
Can I purchase via Purchase Order?
Yes. We accommodate purchase orders for organizations that require a formal PO process. See Purchase Order information →
